Following our efforts to enhance awareness and encourage users to use our app for watching matches, our goal was to elevate the viewing experience well beyond what other sports streaming services offer. We aimed for our users to return not just to watch matches but to genuinely enjoy their favorite sports. Our vision was for their viewing experience to be convenient, exciting, and enjoyable, irrespective of the game's outcome. Initially, our sports content was presented in a standard VOD page format, which was not ideally suited for sports viewing and significantly hindered our users' ability to fully enjoy their favorite sports.

BEFORE

Only contains basic information about the match.
Lack of context for users to build up excitement
There is nothing users can do but opt in for an alarm
Big waste of space

Users have to tap on the CTA once more to open the player which is an extra action and a barrier to playback
There is nothing users can do but save the match to their library

CTA is inactive again and users cannot interact with it
For users to watch the full match or highlight, they need to scroll down and select a thumbnail to open the player

AFTER

The new design now shows applicable tabs depending on the match status

Users who came to the page earlier than the match start time can spend time looking through each team’s average state, line-up and how they performed in the past matches
Builds up excitement by providing context of the match before the start of the game
Additional information that is important for sports fans such as commentator, stats, and ranking is added

Before Match

Users can access the live player immediately and it autoplays
Users can see the stats in real-time and compare the teams that are playing against each other
Users can see the upcoming schedules of each team and set up alarms for the next matches
Users can chat with other users watching the match during the live match (collaborated with other squads on chat feature)

During Match (Live)

Full replay or highlight video of the match is auto-played when users land on the page
Users who missed the match can see the match stats and other information to gain context of the match
Users can see the upcoming schedules of each team and set up alarms for the next matches
Spoiler prevention setting that hides all the scores in the feed and event pages for users who missed the match and don’t want to get spoiled on the score before watching the match
