41.18% of sports feed visits are directed to the league page
Now, users can schedule their day to ensure they don't miss their favorite sports matches and enjoy watching them on our app. Our subsequent objective was to encourage them to discover other sports.
A significant challenge for our app was the lack of an intuitive navigation experience for different types of sports, leagues, and so on.
Typically, sports fans tend to watch only the matches of their favorite leagues and players. Our aim was to entice them to explore a broader range of sports content, potentially broadening their interests.
To address this, we committed to enhancing our sports navigation and the presentation of various sports types and leagues.
BEFORE
Consider the example on the right, showcasing the previous version of our app's screen. Sports matches were displayed in a collection format, where each collection might include recent matches, rounds, highlights, etc. This approach was problematic due to the lack of consistency and a logical ordering system for these collections, making it challenging for users to learn how to navigate them.
Additionally, the feed collection limited users to only the leagues presented there, despite the availability of more options. For instance, to find past matches or highlights for Formula 1, users had to scroll down to the seventh collection. The order could vary, leading users to potentially exit before reaching the Formula 1 section. This setup also made it easy for users to miss their favorite league entirely. Given our extensive range of sports leagues, the absence of a unified view on available leagues made it difficult for users to navigate the sports feed, requiring them to scroll extensively to find the matches they were seeking.
AFTER
We added an UI where we show a collective view of all the leagues available on our app. The order of the leauges appearing in this section depends on latest match updates and user’s watch experience. Users can quickly swipe through to gain awareness of what kind of leagues are available instead of having to scroll all the way down to the page
