We’ve been receiving continuous voice of customers regarding episode browsing

"Wish that contents like ‘Infinity Challenge’ that has many episodes had search or scroll related features”

“It is difficult to scroll for contents that has too many episodes. Please make a separate page for it”

“ Could you make search or sorting features for contents like ‘Infinity Challenge’ that has hundreds of episodes”

Contents that drive hooked streamer tended to have 100s ~ of episodes

Users were also dealing with technical issues. Sometimes app would shut down when users scrolled very quickly or over 100 episodes due to device memory issue

Users were having hard time scrolling through hundreds of episodes.
Users could not find the episode they wanted to watch because we did not have a feature to sort or search episodes

Final Design

We added search feature along with episode grouping and sorting. Search feature supported searching by title, casting, keywords from synopsis and date. Episodes were grouped by season, episode bulks (ex. 1~99,100~199) and other units for users to filter by. We also provided sorting by newest and oldest along with recommending episodes by popularity

If we could track episode playback rate, the effectiveness of the new episode browsing feature would have been more clear but we did not have lumberjack logged to distinguish the episode playbacks from non-series contents

1% of our DAU used episode search.
Regarding that episode search is only available on TV series and is most likely used on contents with high number of episodes, stable 1% usage was a reasonable number.
